You're thinking the right thoughts, but how to feel what you say is the problem...

How do you go from philosopher to enlightened?

i dont think i know myself. i see myself in a skewed view, always self deprecating. when i am sad, i beat myself up more for being sad. its a quality that i think puts me behind so many others, who know themselves and have such confidence.

What I have to say is so simple, I hesitate to post a comment.

I would respectfully suggest that you now who you are. You simply need the courage to embrace the solid foundation within, I may say this, because at times, I recognize it to be what I need. Recognition and embracing of the solidity within that we have spent so many human years to silence.

Giving of self to the point where we don't give to ourselves, is destructive, but difficult to unlearn.

you're back! well you're in the mood to write, you suuure write! haha. i like the stuff you said about politics. when i was in hs i was very disillusioned w/ what i learned about the US, especially so many things we have done to others. i remember reading Noam Chomsky's books about our government's intervention in South America and training an elite troup to torture rebels and keep dictators in power. it's all very sickening. but when i look at the world adn its history, no country did any better. only in microscosms like villages and small towns, especially towns that hold on to traditions, are there less senseless violence.

i agree w/ most of what you said about a hero. maybe today, a hero has not come forth because there has been no great test. im sure there are many unsung heroes, the everyday folks who do great deeds. but i want to see them in teh kind of glorified light we put up mass murderers and hollywood actors/actresses. we know names of mass murderers and actors more than we know names of real present day heroes.

i guess, what i really mean to say is i want real role models. im tired of seeing beautiful movie stars adn fashion models. i want to see and look up to and strive to be people w/ substance. even if they're not really like that in real life, i just want to idealize waht is really worth being idealized (instead of what is idealized now: physical beauty and nothing more). i want ideals like those portrayed in 300. like stuff you said...fighting for waht you believe, willing to give up your life for it. to have that kind of meaning in your life is so inspiring!

what would we give up our life for now? what ideals would we die for? certainly not the war in iraq. there seems to be no more noble acts, no more true tests of courage...
